Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 25, 2026. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information LitVM collects when you interact with our website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

LitVM ("LitVM," "we," "our," or "us") operates the website at litvm.com and related properties (the "Services"). This Policy applies to personal information we collect through the Services. It does not apply to on-chain activity on the Litecoin or LitVM networks, which is public by design and not controlled by us. It also does not apply to third-party websites or services that may be linked from the Services.

2. Information we collect

We collect the minimum information needed to operate, secure, and improve the Services:

  • Information you provide directly. Email address when you sign up for our newsletter; information you submit when applying to the Builders Program; and any messages or feedback you send through community channels.
  • Information collected automatically. Standard log data such as IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps. This is collected through our analytics providers and is used to understand how the Services are used.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Small data files set in your browser to support analytics, remember preferences, and improve performance. See Section 5 for details.

We do not knowingly collect special-category data (such as data revealing racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health information, or biometric data) through the Services, and we ask you not to submit such information.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • operate, maintain, and secure the Services;
  • send newsletter updates and product announcements to users who have opted in;
  • respond to inquiries and provide support;
  • review and process Builders Program applications;
  • analyse aggregate usage and improve content and features;
  • detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent, harmful, or unauthorised activity; and
  • comply with applicable legal obligations.

4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar requirements, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR or equivalent local laws:

  • Consent for newsletter signups and non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in emails or your browser settings.
  • Legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Services and understanding how they are used, balanced against your rights and freedoms.
  • Legal obligation where we are required by law to retain or disclose information.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use the following third-party services that may set cookies or use similar technologies on your device:

  • Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager (Google LLC) to understand site traffic and content performance.
  • Hotjar (Hotjar Ltd) to understand how visitors interact with pages through aggregated heatmaps and session recordings. Hotjar masks form input by default and we do not record sensitive content.
  • Make.com (Celonis Inc.) to route newsletter signup data to our email service provider.

Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Blocking some cookies may affect site functionality. Where required, we will request your consent before setting non-essential cookies.

6. How we share information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share information only as follows:

  • Service providers that help us operate the Services — including analytics, email delivery, hosting (Vercel), and automation platforms — under contracts that require them to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.
  • Legal and safety reasons where we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, enforce our Terms of Use, or protect the rights, property, or safety of LitVM, our users, or others.
  • Corporate transactions in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation, or sale of assets, in which case personal information may be transferred subject to standard confidentiality protections.

7. International transfers

LitVM and its service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where we transfer personal information out of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or other regions with transfer restrictions, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

8. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to our analytics providers' default settings (typically 14 months for Google Analytics, 365 days for Hotjar). Builders Program submissions are retained for the duration of the program and a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion of your personal information;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • receive a copy of your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior lawful processing); and
  • lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

You can exercise these rights by contacting us through the official LitVM channels. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. To unsubscribe from the newsletter, use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and the right to opt out of any "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising; we do not engage in such sharing.

10. Children's privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Third-party links and on-chain activity

The Services link to third-party websites, wallets, block explorers, and protocols. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services. Information you publish on a public blockchain — including transactions involving zkLTC, LTC, or any other on-chain asset — is permanent and visible to anyone, and is outside the control of this Policy.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.

14. Contact

For privacy-related questions or to exercise any of the rights described above, contact us through the official LitVM channels listed at litvm.com, including our community channels on X, Telegram, and Discord.
